Submissions to SHINE

SHINE welcomes poetry on any subject, in any form,
from any writer (published or emerging), anywhere on the planet.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
From the international poetry community, we have a "luxury of stars," as Sylvia Plath might say, and it is SHINE's honor to provide a home for their words. Since its inception in Winter 2022, SHINE online Spotlight series has featured dozens of contemporary poets from around the world. Its accompanying lit mag, SHINE Quarterly, was founded in 2024, and aims to honor contributors to the SHINE online series with a broader audience and an even brighter spotlight! 

SHINE welcomes submissions from both established and emerging poets. Send 2-3 poems and a brief Bio, by email to:  shinepoetryseries[at]protonmail[dot]com. Your work will be handled with the utmost care. Responses are usually sent within 2-4 weeks, often sooner. (If you have not heard back within 4 weeks, feel free to inquire.) All submissions are first considered for an online Spotlight feature. If accepted for an online feature, work is also considered for inclusion in the next appropriate print issue of SHINE Quarterly. (Thus, an acceptance for a feature does not always result in a print publish.) PLEASE NOTE:  Beginning September 2025, submission responses will specify whether your work has been accepted for one or both SHINE outlets. 

SHINE values being a part of the indie publishing community and believes that indie publications are a vital part of the literary world. Many such publications, SHINE included, are volunteer-driven and (officially or unofficially) non-profit endeavors. As it is crucial to keep costs low and minimize the impact of financial strain on both the publication and its contributors, submissions to SHINE are ALWAYS FREE regardless of income (and ALWAYS OPEN). In that same vein, SHINE is not a paying publication. However, every contributor receives an exclusive PDF of the issue in which their work appears. SHINE nominates for BOTN and Pushcart, annually, so send your best! And, THANK YOU for considering SHINE as a home for your poetry. 

BOOK FEATURES & MISCELLANY:
  • Did you know? SHINE online series will happily feature your collection or chapbook!
  • And, SHINE welcomes submissions of previously published poems (please specify in your submission so first-publish credits may be provided where due). Submission guidelines, same as above.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  Submitting previous publishes or book excerpts may preclude you from consideration for prize nominations or inclusion in SHINE Quarterly.

In the spirit of honest poetry spoken from the heart, SHINE condemns plagiarism and does not accept AI generated poems. By submitting work to SHINE, you certify your words are your own. All rights revert to writers upon publish.
